Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra (Kotha Lokah in Telugu) is making a sensational impact across India, winning both audience hearts and critical acclaim. Many are already hailing it as the best Indian film of 2025 so far.

With surprise cameos from stars like Tovino Thomas, Dulquer Salmaan, and Soubin Shahir, the film successfully kickstarts a superhero cinematic universe in Malayalam cinema.

At the box office, the film has been phenomenal. In just three days, it earned ₹14.30 crore net in India and grossed ₹41 crore worldwide. By day four, early estimates pointed to another ₹9 crore net, pushing its global total past ₹50 crore within the opening weekend.

Made on a modest budget of ₹30 crore, trade experts believe the film is on track to cross the coveted ₹100 crore mark with ease.

Malayalam cinema, already celebrated for its quality storytelling over the last decade, is now enjoying massive commercial triumphs. Earlier this year, L2: Empuraan, starring Mohanlal and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, shattered records with ₹265 crore worldwide. Mohanlal followed it up with another blockbuster, Thudarum, which collected ₹235 crore globally. Meanwhile, Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, featuring Fahadh Faasil and Kalyani Priyadarshan, failed to make a mark despite high expectations.

With Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, Malayalam cinema has confidently stepped into the superhero genre, setting new standards for creativity and box office dominance in 2025.
