Andhra Pradesh chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has made a stunning offer that has the potential of making every Telugu parent force his children to become a scientist in future.

While addressing the inaugural event of the Children’s Science Congress on the sidelines of the Indian Science Congress (ISC) at the Sri Padmavathi Women’s University in Tirupati, Naidu has announced a reward of Rs 100 crore from the AP state government to any Telugu person who wins a Nobel Prize.

Interestingly, Babu’s reward is about 17 times to the prize money awarded by the Nobel committee, which is about Rs 6 crore. No other state government or for that matter, not even the central govt. has made such an offer so far. Moreover, this is the second time that the TDP chief has made such a grand announcement, earlier he announced Rs 10 crore reward for the same achievement.

He reportedly said that India has not been able to secure many Nobel Prizes despite having abundant talent. “People having potential are migrating to other countries. If the youngsters are encouraged and provided better opportunities, several Nobel laureates would emerge from India,” he added.

Naidu also advised children to enjoy the work the stream they choose and do the necessary hard work to achieve their goals.
