Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has been unanimously re-elected as the National President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) during the party’s annual Mahanadu convention held on Wednesday. This victory marks yet another milestone in Chandrababu’s long and influential leadership, which has now extended for over three decades.
Since assuming leadership in 1995, Chandrababu Naidu has guided TDP through many political challenges in both the united Andhra Pradesh and the bifurcated states. According to party rules, the National President is elected every two years, with the Mahanadu convention serving as the formal platform for the election.
The latest election took place during this year’s Mahanadu in Kadapa. A formal notification for the presidential election was issued on Tuesday, and by Wednesday, senior leader Varla Ramaiah announced that several top party leaders had endorsed Chandrababu’s candidacy. No other nominations were received for the position.
At a grand and lively ceremony attended by party officials and supporters, Chandrababu Naidu took the oath of office once again. The re-election was celebrated with enthusiasm by party members who praised his steadfast leadership. If he completes this term, Chandrababu will have served an impressive 32 years as TDP’s National President — a record that underscores his lasting impact on both regional and national politics. His leadership continues to enjoy widespread support within the party, with many crediting him for TDP’s ongoing stability and revival.
