Chandrababu’s ‘Badude Badudu’ sees huge crowds: Warning bells for YSRCP?

Is the ruling YSRCP losing its sheen? Is the feel-good factor that helped the YSRCP all these days peeling off? Otherwise, what would explain the massive turnout at the “Badude Badudu” protest programme that TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu attended in north Andhra. Sources say the crowd turnout was way beyond the expectation of the TDP leaders and cadre.

On May 4, Chandrababu visited Dalla Valasa village in Amadalavalasa assembly constituency in Srikakulam. On May 5, he visited Talla Valasa in Bheemili assembly constituency. He addressed a public meeting in the village.

The crowd turnout was huge and left even the TDP cadre surprised. Till now, only party cadres used to attend Chandrababu’s programmes, but this time, even the general public attended the programme in a big way. What surprised the TDP leaders was that the party did not make a special attempt to ensure a big turnout. The crowd attendance was spontaneous.

The TDP sources say that the general public were fed up with the rising prices, the failing economy of the state and the falling law and order situation in the state. The TDP sources said that the TDP should take advantage of the situation in the state to stage a comeback.

Political observers say that this is a warning bell for the ruling YSRCP. As the TDP outreach gathers steam, it could mean trouble for YS Jagan. They say that YS Jagan must wake up fast and take up remedial measures quickly. Otherwise, the situation could slip out of the YSRCP hands, they say.

On May 6, he will visit Tallarevu in Mummidivaram constituency in East Godavari district. Soon after Mahanadu, both Chandrababu Naidu and his son Lokesh will embark upon a state-wide yatra. While it is still not clear whether this would be a bus yatra or padayatra, the TDP sources say that these yatras would mobilise the TDP cadres for the upcoming elections in 2024.
