China Broadens 240-Hour Visa-Free Transit Policy to Strengthen Global Connectivity
In a strategic move to enhance international travel and stimulate economic engagement, China has officially expanded its 240-hour visa-free transit policy to include citizens from 55 countries. The revised policy, announced by the state-run Xinhua News Agency, will take effect starting Thursday.
Under the updated regulations, eligible travelers from countries such as Indonesia, Russia, and the United Kingdom can enter China without a visa for up to 240 hours (10 days), provided they are transiting to a third destination. During this period, visitors are allowed to participate in tourism as well as business-related activities.
This expansion reflects China’s broader efforts to revive inbound travel and promote cross-border commerce in the post-pandemic landscape. The initiative is expected to facilitate short-term visits, encourage international exchanges, and contribute to the country’s economic recovery by attracting global talent and investment.
