“Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, Bollywood’s First 2025 Hit”

Bollywood’s first major hit of the year has arrived in the form of Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal. After a series of flops in January and early February with films like Fateh, Sky Force, Emergency, Deva, Azad, and Loveyapa, the industry was in a slump. However, Chhaava—released on February 14—has brought much-needed hope to the Hindi film industry.

The film quickly gained attention from both critics and audiences, with national media praising Vicky Kaushal’s outstanding portrayal of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Despite being a historical drama, Chhaava opened to strong box office numbers, benefiting from the public holiday in Maharashtra on February 19, marking Chhatrapati Shivaji’s birth anniversary. The makers are expecting even higher footfalls over the next few days.

Rashmika Mandanna, who plays his wife, Yesu Bai, also received praise for her strong performance, even though her screen time was limited. The emotional depth and intense scenes of the film have resonated with audiences, leaving them both moved and thrilled.

Chhaava’s popularity is not just limited to the North; it’s also gaining traction in South India, particularly in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Theatres are buzzing with excitement, with young audiences chanting slogans like “Jai Shivaji, Jai Bhavani, Sambhaji Maharaj Ki Jai!”

Box office numbers tell the story of a major success. On its opening day, Chhaava grossed ₹33.10 crore, followed by ₹39.30 crore on its second day, and an impressive ₹49.3 crore on Sunday. In just three days, its worldwide gross has reached ₹121.43 crore. This marks a significant milestone for Vicky Kaushal, as it’s the first time one of his films has surpassed double-digit crores on opening day.

Trade experts predict that Chhaava could cross ₹50 crore in gross earnings tomorrow, driven by the Shivaji Jayanti celebrations, and may even reach the ₹200 crore mark by Thursday. If the momentum continues, Chhaava is poised to be the big hit Bollywood has been waiting for.

Perhaps it’s time the makers consider dubbing the film in Telugu to reach an even wider audience!
