Our readers are aware that STAR Group had acquired the Broadcasting Rights of MAA Group in Telugu foraying in to Telugu Television. While both the parties did not reveal the deal details, sources tell us that the entire deal cost 2500 Crore to the Corporate giant.
The return of investment to Nagarjuna and Chiranjeevi in this deal will simply blow off your mind. Chiranjeevi reportedly invested 20 Crore when MAA was started and now he got 500 Crore as his share which means 25 times the investment he made.
On the other side, Nagarjuna made 10 Crore investment and is now walking away with 250 Crore which means again 25 times the investment. We do not know how much Nimmagadda Prasad invested but he is now bagging the remaining 1750 Crores. All these profits are not inclusive of the profits they made from marketing MAA all these years. So, this can be termed as one of the most profitable deals in the last few years.
On the other side, it is said that Chiranjeevi was earlier hesitant to invest in this venture but Nagarjuna forced him to do. Chiranjeevi will be definitely thanking Nagarjuna for that wise decision. MAA is the Leading Entertainment Channel Group in Telugu.
However they say the deal is confined only to broadcast business and the currently management and promoters will continue with the Channel. After getting the required permissions from Regulator, MAA brand will be changed to Star.
This step will retain the value that faces of Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna will bring to MAA in future. Also such move will restrict them from opening any new channel.
