Chiranjeevi Responds to CM Revanth Reddy’s Call for Gaddar Awards

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy recently expressed his displeasure over the lack of response from Tollywood regarding the proposed Gaddar Awards, which were intended to recognize the talent of actors and technicians in the Telugu film industry. This initiative was announced as a replacement for the long-discontinued Nandi Awards. He noted that despite his earlier proposal, he had not received any proper response from the Telugu film industry.

In response to CM Revanth Reddy’s comments, Megastar Chiranjeevi took to Twitter to address the issue. Chiranjeevi emphasized the importance of the proposed Gaddar Awards and urged the Film Chamber and Producers Council to take responsibility for moving this initiative forward. He suggested that Tollywood should unite and take necessary action to ensure the successful implementation of the awards. “Telangana State Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has taken the initiative and announced that the government will give ‘Gaddar Awards’ named after public artist Gaddar to the talents of the film industry to revive the film awards. On behalf of the Telugu industry, the Film Chamber and the Producers Council are requested to take responsibility to take forward this proposal ambitiously,” Chiranjeevi posted today.

Chiranjeevi’s response came in the form of a tweet, where he reiterated the importance of the Gaddar Awards and shared a video of his speech from the ceremony where he was honored by the Telangana government for his Padma Vibhushan. He highlighted that the Gaddar Awards, named after the revolutionary singer and artist Gaddar, would be a prestigious recognition for the talents of the Telugu film industry. Chiranjeevi’s proactive stance aims to bridge the gap between the film industry and the state government, ensuring that the proposal does not remain unaddressed.

CM Revanth Reddy, during his speech, reminded the audience of his earlier initiative and expressed his disappointment over the lack of engagement from Tollywood. He reiterated that the government was ready to give the Gaddar Awards on December 9, coinciding with Gaddar Jayanti, and encouraged the film industry to bring forth a proposal to the government. “Earlier I appealed on this platform that the Telangana government is ready to give the Gaddar awards on December 9 on the occasion of Gaddar Jayanti and those responsible in the film industry should bring a proposal to the government. But due to some reason, none of the celebrities of the film industry approached the government. Even now, if they come forward and take the activity forward, the government will surely organize the program,” said Revanth Reddy. Chiranjeevi’s response aims to ensure that the Telugu film industry takes this opportunity to honor its talents through the Gaddar Awards.

Amidst this, Megastar Chiranjeevi is currently working on the socio-fantasy movie “Vishwambhara,” directed by Vashishta, which is set to be released on January 10, 2025, during the Sankranti festival. Despite his busy schedule, Chiranjeevi has shown his commitment to addressing important industry issues, highlighting his role as a leader and advocate for the Telugu film community.
