Pasupathinath Temple, the 5th Century shrine built for Lord Shiva in Kathmandu, Nepal is in news ever since India’s PM Narendra Modi offered special prayers at the temple during his visit to Nepal earlier this month. Among the list of celebs who have offered prayers recently, Megastar Chiranjeevi and actor Anupam Kher are noteworthy.
According to Pashupati Area Development Trust chief Govinda Tandon, Chiranjeevi offered Rs 2 lakhs for a special puja conducted at the temple, while Anupam Kher has given Rs 5,100 for the same. Also the most significant Hindu temple, listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites, is getting numerous telephone inquires every day about the special pooja. And during his visit, PM Modi has donated around 2,500 kgs of Sandalwood to the temple which costs around 2 crores.
Housing the holy ‘Siva Lingam’ the temple was constructed way back in 400 AD, and majority of its devotees are Indians. Ever since Modi’s special pooja was broadcasted live on many Indian news channels, pilgrims from the country are crossing border to pay a visit to this sacred shrine.
