Union minister Chiranjeevi gave a shock to the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy on his power policy. He has strongly defended his former PRP colleague and the Endowments Minister C Ramachandraiah who lambasted the government and the Congress party for proposing to hike the electricity charges further.
Talking to the media, he said Ramachandraiah was correct in objecting to tariff hike, in view of the ensuing elections. He also said that the state government should rethink about the proposal. Stating that elections were not far off, he said it was not proper to burden the common man at this time.
He however supported hike in railway fares.
On MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi’s remarks, he said law would take its course.
It may be mentioned that Ramachandraiah wrote a letter to the PCC Chief four days ago strongly opposing the power tariff hike. He questioned straight how the Congress was hoping to win elections when it was burdening the common man like this.
