An unfortunate incident unfolded in the sacred temple town of Tirupati late last night, where a tragic stampede occurred near the Tirumala Vaikunta Dwara Darshan ticket counter. The incident resulted in the loss of six lives and left around 40 people injured.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and voiced serious concern about the failure to prevent the mishap. Strongly sympathizing with the victims’ families, the CM criticized the authorities for inadequate preparations, particularly given the anticipated large gathering of devotees.
“Why weren’t proper arrangements made, despite knowing that thousands of devotees would be attending? Isn’t it vital to ensure the highest level of vigilance and responsibility in handling such sensitive situations?” questioned Chandrababu Naidu during his interaction with the TTD (Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams) management and local officials.
The Chief Minister has been closely monitoring the situation in real time and is constantly in contact with local authorities. With long queues continuing for Vaikunta Dwara Darshan tickets, Naidu has expressed serious concern about crowd control and public safety.
The CM is set to visit Tirupati today, where he will personally meet the bereaved families and gather a comprehensive report on the current arrangements. Based on his assessment, he will issue directives aimed at improving the queue management system and preventing such tragic incidents in the future.
This unfortunate event marks one of the most significant instances of mismanagement at the revered Tirumala shrine. Immediate and effective measures are expected to be taken to avoid any recurrence of such mishaps, ensuring the safety of all devotees visiting the temple.
