CM Chandrababu Serious Over Kanigiri Rape Attempt Incident

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s latest outing, Akhanda 2, has witnessed a lukewarm response following its OTT debut. The film began streaming on Netflix last week, but its opening failed to generate strong viewership numbers.

In its first week, Akhanda 2 managed to enter the Top 10 non-English films list in seven countries, including India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, the United Arab Emirates, and Nigeria. In India, the film secured the third position on the chart, trailing behind De De Pyaar De 2 and Haq!.

However, the film could not replicate the OTT success of Balakrishna’s previous Netflix release. His 2025 film Daaku Maharaaj had a stronger debut, registering 2.4 million views in its opening week, significantly higher than Akhanda 2.

According to Netflix data for the period between January 5 and January 11, 2026, Akhanda 2 recorded 2 million views with a total of 5.6 million viewing hours during its debut week. Globally, the film ranked fourth in the Top 10 non-English films list. The chart was led by the South Korean sci-fi disaster drama The Great Flood.

Interestingly, Akhanda 2 posted the same debut-week numbers as Rashmika Mandanna’s The Girlfriend. With this performance, Balakrishna’s film now stands as the fifth-lowest OTT debut for a South Indian movie on Netflix since 2025.
