In a shocking development, Kerala police have registered a criminal case against filmmaker Chidambaram S. Poduval, the director of the Malayalam hit Manjummel Boys, following allegations of sexual harassment.

The Ernakulam Town South police received a complaint from a woman associated with the film industry, who alleges that the incident occurred in 2022 at her apartment in Kochi. According to the FIR, Chidambaram is accused of entering her residence without permission and behaving in a sexually inappropriate manner, which reportedly outraged her.

The police have booked the director under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to assault or criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty. Authorities have assured that a fair investigation will be conducted. A notice is expected to be issued, summoning Chidambaram for questioning as part of the inquiry.

Chidambaram, whose 2024 film Manjummel Boys was among Malayalam cinema’s biggest hits and earned him the Kerala State Film Award for Best Director, has not made any public statement regarding the allegations.

The case is currently in its early stages, and further details are expected as the police continue their investigation and record additional statements. Observers are keenly watching how the situation unfolds in the coming days.
