In the last week of October, China ended its ban on the three decade long ban on the controversial one child only policy and allowed its citizens to raise two children. This progressive move by the Chinese government has been lauded by international demographic organisations and freethinkers.
However, the Japanese leading condom manufacturing giant Okamoto has been deeply devastated by the Chinese government’s decision. All these years during the times of one child only policy, a majority of Chinese men used the leading condom makers Okamoto condons.
With the lifting of the ban, Chinese couples are fully into unprotected sex, thereby resulting in a steep fall of Okamoto condoms sale. This further resulted in the company’s shares depreciated by 10%. However, in a much needed relief, Okamoto company has seen a drastic rise in the sale of baby soaps and other children products.
