Even as Congress is yet to overcome its recent defeat in Telangana elections, here comes another shocker for the party in the state. Two of its MLCs including its party whip is all set to cross over to ruling TRS. What’s interesting is that the party whip and MLC Akula Laitha, who had tried to complain against defected MLCs to Chairman Swamy Goud, is now jumping into TRS.
Congress MLC and whip Akula Lalitha has met CM KCR at Pragathi Bhavan and congratulated him on his victory. It is buzzed that stage is all set for Akula Lalitha’s entry into the Pink Party and muhurat is also fixed. However, when asked about her joining into TRS, she neither confirmed nor denied. She told media that she just came to Pragathi Bhavan to wish CM KCR.
Here is the twist in the tale. Just a day before she met KCR, Akula Lalitha along with Opposition leader of Telangana Legislative Council, Shabbir Ali and MLC Santosh Kumar had planned to meet Chairman Swamy Goud to complain against Congress MLC K Damodar Reddy who jumped into TRS.
However, Swamy Goud was on leave on Wednesday as his close relative passed away. With this, Congress legislative council team decided to meet Swamy Goud on Thursday and complain against Damodar Reddy. But Swamy Goud couldn’t return even on Thursday as he was in Bengaluru. That’s when Shabbir Ali, Akula Lalitha and Santosh had decided to meet him on Friday to complain against defected MLC Damodar Reddy.
But all of a sudden, Akula Lalitha and Santosh have met KCR separately on Thursday and decided to jump into TRS.
What happened behind?
Akula Lalitha happens to be the close relative of TRS leader, Deputy Chairman of Legislative Council Nethi Vidya Sagar. Vidya Sagar was the one who said to have held the talks for Lalitha’s entry into TRS. Along with Vidya Sagar and government whip Palla Rajeswar Reddy, she met KCR. Lalitha had recently contested on Congress ticket in Armoor against Jeevan Reddy and lost in his hands. Her joining into TRS is now shocking Congress seniors.
Meanwhile, Congress MLC Santosh Kumar has also met KCR at Pragathi Bhavan along with Karimnagar Mayor Sardar Ravindar Singh, Corporation chairman Koleti Damodar and personally greeted KCR. As Santosh’s MLC term is likely to end soon, he said to have got assurance from that he would be made MLC on TRS party.
TRS MLCs Bhupathi Reddy, Yadava Reddy, Konda Murali, Ramulu Nayak have recently campaigned for Congress in the state elections. TRS chief whip had complained against them to Chairman Swamy Goud and Swamy Goud has sent notices to them. Looks like, Congress MLCs are jumping into TRS to get elected as TRS MLCs.
Amidst speculations that 10 out of 12 Congress MLAs would jump into TRS soon, the meeting of two MLCs with KCR has triggered a panic among Congress senior leaders.
