Constable Drags Chief Minister To The Court

A Police Constable filed a criminal defamation complaint against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly using a derogatory word ‘thulla’ while speaking about cops in a TV Interview.

Harvinder, a constable posted at the Gobind Puri Police Station, complained that he was hurt by the word ‘thulla’ which was used by Chief Minister for cops and this remark has demoralized the entire police force. He also alleged describing the cops as unproductive has damaged their reputation and Kejriwal’s comment was intended provoke breach of peace. The complainant sought the court to issue summons to Arvind Kejriwal for the offence under Sections 500 & 504 of IPC.

A Court in Delhi accepted the defamation complaint against Delhi Chief Minister and fixed September 10th for recording of pre-summoning evidence. Subsequently, Govind Puri Police Station House Officer & Head Constable, who were witnesses in the case, were summoned for recording their statements.
