Coronavirus Updates:27 killed by alcohol poisoning in Iran


The COVID-19 has resulted in many rumors and speculations on how to prevent the deadly virus. In one horrific incident where a group of people believing that alcohol can cure the virus have lost their lives.

Going into details, not less than 27 people have died of alcohol poisoning at the Khuzestan and Alborz provinces of Iran who tried to prevent the infection of the Coronavirus from spreading further.

”Some of the citizens of Ahwaz had heard that drinking alcohol could help them fight the coronavirus, so they used it as a preventive measure,” said Ali Ehsanpour, spokesman of Ahwaz University of Medical Sciences.

”One of the victims got blind and some others are in critical condition,” Ehsanpour added.

Many rumors and unscientific treatments have spread on social media on how to fight the virus with the outbreak of COVID-19. One such unscientific treatments are consuming alcohol.

Iran stands as the nation that was hit hard in the Middle East by COVID-19. The official records state that the count of infected patients so far reached 7,161, out of which 237 have died and 2,394 have been recovered.
