Eve teasers detained for the second time will be charged under applicable sections of The Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2013, the police has alerted. Until now just small instances were being booked and for minors it was just counseling.
In some instances the alleged were jailed for two and three days. Nearly 100 SHE teams are busy in the city and almost 113 persons have been caught for eve-teasing. With the huge positive response for SHE Teams from all sections of the public, the police has taken eve-teasing more acutely.
The treatment would be drastic if an accused is charged under the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, which was implemented after the 2012 December Delhi gang rape. Additional commissioner of police, (Crimes and SIT) Swati Lakra said, their purpose is to change the culprit. Hence they are also counseled with the assistance of professional psychologists.
