If the incident of Indian skipper Virat Kohli getting out cheaply was the most heartbreaking moment of the ICC Champions Trophy final played against Pakistan on Sunday, the unfortunate run-out of all-rounder Hardik Pandya was no lesser saddening.
Pandya was keeping the tiny hopes of the Indian fans alive with his sensational knock after all the star Indian batsmen reached pavilion. Fans were literally praying for Pandya to chase down the monumental target. It wouldn’t have been an unforgettable incident for fans had the power-hitter fell prey to the impeccable bowling of Pakistan, but he got out because of a horrible mix-up between him and Ravindra Jadeja.
Pandya was visibly very much upset after his dismissal as he was very animated while walking back to pavilion. It seems that he didn’t forget the incident so easily and vent out his anger against Jadeja on social media.
Pandya took to Twitter to express his displeasure with the dismissal saying, “Hume to apno ne loota, gairo me kahan dumm tha (We were robbed by our own, rivals didn’t have such strength).”
He deleted this tweet later.
In fact, Jadeja could have sacrificed his wicket so that Pandya could continue ripping apart the Pak bowlers as long as he could but his lack of presence of mind killed the last hope of Indian fans.
