Chiru to Team Up with Another Young Director

Megastar Chiranjeevi appears to have found a successful formula in the second phase of his career. In recent years, he has increasingly collaborated with talented young directors who present him in roles that suit both his age and massive star image.
He first teamed up with director Bobby and delivered a blockbuster with Waltair Veerayya. Later, he joined hands with director Anil Ravipudi and scored another major success with Mana Shankar Vara Prasad Garu. Riding on these successes, Chiranjeevi has now lined up projects with Bobby once again and filmmaker Srikanth Odela, both of which have already generated significant buzz in the industry.
Meanwhile, the actor is awaiting the release of his much-anticipated socio-fantasy film Vishwambhara, directed by Mallidi Vassishta.
According to the latest reports from industry circles, Chiranjeevi has also shown interest in working with debutant director Srinivas Maya, who previously worked as an assistant to renowned filmmaker Sukumar. The young filmmaker is said to have narrated an engaging story set in a rural backdrop, which reportedly impressed the Megastar.
Sources say Chiranjeevi has asked Srinivas Maya to return with a complete bound script for a detailed narration. If the director succeeds in impressing him in the next round of discussions, the project could soon move forward, as the actor is keen to do a full-length mass entertainer set in a rustic village backdrop.
Since his comeback with Khaidi No. 150, Chiranjeevi has largely appeared in commercial entertainers but has not done a full-fledged rural drama. Industry insiders say this new project could mark a refreshing change for the star, much like how Rangasthalam offered a striking makeover for Ram Charan in terms of story and characterization.
At present, Chiranjeevi is taking a short break after undergoing a minor shoulder surgery. He is expected to resume work soon and begin shooting for Bobby’s upcoming film. After completing that project, he will move on to Srikanth Odela’s film, who is also a former associate of Sukumar.
If everything goes as planned, Chiranjeevi may later collaborate with Sukumar’s assistant Srinivas Maya for what could be an interesting and refreshing project in his filmography.
