At the time when Rajamouli’s Baahubali-2 was breaking all existing records in India and overseas (US particularly), Aamir Khan’s previous year release Dangal has again set the heather on fire – all thanks to blasting figures in China.
The emotional story of a wrestler father and his two daughters was massively liked by China audiences and in just a couple of weeks from release, the film managed to have 55,000 screenings per day in China.
Having become the 5th highest-grossing Non-Hollywood film in the world, Dangal is now biggest Indian film – in terms of revenue generation. The wrestling-drama has reportedly achieved another incredible milestone on Tuesday as its world-wide collections breached 2000 Crore mark. Dangal is the first Indian film to join the 2000 crore club and film’s Indian share is at Rs 745 Crore.
Given this momentum, the makers of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali:The Conclusion and Salman Khan’s Sultan also expect a similar dream-run when their films are up for release later this year. Baahubali has out-paced every Indian film at home, US and several other countries, but the makers are still waiting to cherish the success moments only after its release in China as well.
Coming to collections of Baahubali-2, the magnum opus already pocketed 1700+ Crore after its release in India & overseas (excluding China). It is now big a question mark for trade pundits, box-office experts to predict whether or not Baahubali-2 exceeds Dangal in China!
