In a fresh jolt to veteran filmmaker and former union minister for coal Dasari Narayan Rao, a CBI special court in New Delhi has asked the investigate officials to file a chargesheet on Dasari, Naveen Jindal, Chairman of Jindal Steel & Power Limited (JSPL), former Jharkhand CM Madhu Koda and ex-coal secretary HC Gupta and 11 others pertaining to alleged irregularities in allocation of the coal block to JSPL and GSIPL.
The court has charged the accused with criminal conspiracy and inappropriate allocation of Amarkonda coal block in Jharkhand to Jindal’s 2 firms. The court has alleged that Madhu Koda had favoured Jindal’s two firms, JSPL and Gagan Sponge Iron Private Ltd (GSIPL) in allocation of Amarkonda Murgadangal coal block in Jharkhand.
Today’s judgement is the second major judgement to come out in connection with the coal gate scandal. Last month, the CBI special court awarded 4 year jail term to R S Rungta, director and R C Rungta, Chairman and in Jharkhand Ispat Private Limited (JIPL).
The overall scandal is allegedly worth Rs. 1.86 lakh crore and the CBI had started its probe after a CAG report in 2012 blew the whistle on what is being called as one of the biggest scandals ever in the country.
