Deepika Padukone has created history by becoming the first Indian actor to receive a star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame. The announcement was made during the unveiling of the 2026 Walk of Fame class in Hollywood on Wednesday evening, making it a proud moment for Indian cinema.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame, located along Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, is one of the most renowned landmarks in the entertainment world. With over 2,700 stars embedded on the sidewalk, each one honours a celebrity from the fields of film, television, music, radio, or live performance, recognizing their contributions to popular culture.
While it is a common belief that celebrities can buy a star on the Walk of Fame, the truth is more structured. Every year, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce receives around 200 to 300 nominations. From these, a special selection panel chooses the inductees based on merit and impact. Once selected, the celebrity or their sponsor is required to pay a fee — currently around ₹73 lakh in Indian currency — which goes towards the installation and ongoing maintenance of the star.
Deepika Padukone joins an illustrious group of international stars in the 2026 class, including names like Demi Moore, Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Rami Malek, Rachel McAdams, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Stanley Tucci, Marion Cotillard, Chris Columbus, Greg Daniels, and Tony Scott.
This recognition places Deepika not just on one of the most visible global platforms but also cements her as a trailblazer for Indian actors making a mark internationally. Her inclusion highlights the growing influence of Indian talent on the global entertainment stage and celebrates her journey from Bollywood to the world.
