The market of Bollywood is vast and this is one reason why most of the genres tend to reap profits even if they perform average. But to those films which are in demand, the collections are humongous. Right now, a new demand has begun in Bollywood and this is the demand for biopics.
In the last few years, films have come on the lives of Bhagat Singh, soldiers of Kargil war, Mangal Pandey and others. Now, the focus has shifted more towards sportspersons. ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ based on the life of Milkha Singh became a super hit. This was followed by ‘Mary Kom’ based on the boxer which scored success as well.
In between, films like ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ ‘Bandit Queen’ also gained a lot of critical recognition. Now, many writers are exploring the lives of sportsmen, film celebrities and other noted personalities so that it can be made as a film. It remains to be seen how long this demand would sustain.
