AICC General Secretary and Congress AP in-charge Digvijay Singh stunned the Congress leaders who are trying to disown YSR by praising the former chief minister. “Andhra Pradesh used to be very peaceful state and progressed well during YSR’s tenure as CM. He is one leader who had control on all the issues in the state and also implemented welfare & development schemes very well. Post his death, things have gone for a toss,” commented the senior leader, apart from revealing he is one among the senior leaders who backed YSR’s candidature as CM in 2004.
Digvijay went ahead and described YSR Congress as no different from Congress. “YSRC carries the DNA of Congress,” opined the AICC leader, hinting Jagan has to merge his party with Congress in future.
However, Digvijay found fault with Jagan for mis-using CM’s office during his father’s tenure to build his business empire.
Digvijay’s comments praising YSR surely didn’t go down well with the AP Congress leaders, but few of them opined that the AICC leader is trying to reduce the gap between the ruling party and YSRC keeping the poll alliance in mind.
