The H-1B visa has long served as a critical stepping stone for highly skilled professionals seeking permanent residence in the United States. For many, selection in the H-1B lottery represents a significant achievement and a chance to build a life and career in the U.S. Yet, the visa also brings with it considerable uncertainty.
While the H-1B visa allows individuals — particularly those completing Optional Practical Training (OPT) or STEM OPT extensions — to secure employment, the six-year cap and the challenges of employment-based green card sponsorship present major hurdles.
