Excel Entertainment Seeks ₹40 Cr Compensation From Ranveer Over Don 3 Exit

Farhan Akhtar’s production banner, Excel Entertainment, has reportedly demanded a hefty compensation from Ranveer Singh following his exit from Don 3. According to industry sources, the production house is seeking damages of nearly ₹40 crore.

Don 3 was scheduled to go on floors in January 2026 and had already reached an advanced stage of pre-production. Sources reveal that Excel Entertainment had made substantial investments in script development, scheduling, location scouting, and other preparatory work well in advance.

The compensation claim is said to be based on these sunk costs, as well as the production delays caused by Ranveer Singh’s sudden withdrawal from the project. While neither Excel Entertainment nor Ranveer has released an official statement so far, the development has sparked intense speculation and buzz within film industry circles.

Ranveer Singh was officially announced as the new face of the Don franchise in 2023, stepping into the iconic role previously portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan in Don (2006) and Don 2 (2011), both of which also starred Priyanka Chopra.

The Don franchise originally began with Amitabh Bachchan’s 1978 cult classic, written by Salim–Javed, and has since evolved into one of Bollywood’s most recognisable and enduring action-thriller series.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh is currently focused on Dhurandhar 2, directed by Aditya Dhar. The film, which also stars Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and several other prominent actors, is slated for a theatrical release on March 19.
