Excerpts from Sabu Cyril’s Interview about Baahubali

National Award winning Art Director Sabu Cyril is erecting the necessary sets for Rajamouli’s magnum opus film, Baahubali. Sabu Cyril revealed several interesting things about the work for the film which is just beyond the sets. We are bringing the excerpts of that interview to our readers.

-> Daily around 300 to 500 of workmen is on the sets of Baahubali-2, from painters and carpenters to moulders, welders, construction workers and artists.
-> “Baahubali is undoubtedly the biggest film of my career. It’s like working in 10 films at the same time. It’s one of the most challenging films for me, but I am enjoying the challenge”, says Sabu Cyril
-> The makers have allocated a bigger budget for sets in Baahubali-2. Sabu Cyril is researching heavily from books, the Internet and interactions with experts to get them perfect.
-> Sabu Cyril is so connected and busy with Baahubali, that he had to give up several offers including Shankar’s 2.0 starring Rajinikanth
-> Even the snakes, horses and elephants are not real in Baahubali. They are made by Sabu Cyril mechanically. They are not real animals or Computer Graphics
-> Carbon Fibre a material that is used in helicopter blades was extensively used for armours and weapons of the actors. Carbon Fibre is lightweight but strong as steel. The material is expensive but still being used so as to make sure the actors are not hurt.
