With Deepika Padukone officially out of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s highly anticipated film Spirit, the hunt is on for a new female lead to star opposite Prabhas. The makers are now looking for a tall and charismatic actress who can match Prabhas both in screen presence and stature.
Interestingly, a strong wave of fan support is emerging in favor of Mrunal Thakur. Though she was part of Kalki 2898 AD, she and Prabhas didn’t share scenes together, and fans are now hoping to finally see them paired on-screen. Mrunal’s performance in Sita Ramam earned her massive appreciation in the South, and her popularity has only grown since then.
Mrunal seems like a solid fit for Spirit. She has the acting chops, screen presence, and bilingual appeal, having worked in both Bollywood and South cinema. Her ability to understand and potentially dub in Telugu adds another plus to her candidacy.
However, there’s still no confirmation from director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. While Deepika was initially chosen for her pan-India star power and past collaboration with Prabhas, it remains unclear whether the team will continue to chase top-tier commercial names or opt for a strong performer with fan goodwill like Mrunal.
Adding more intrigue, reports suggest that Rukmini Vasanth is also being considered for the role. But her tight schedule, especially with her ongoing commitment to Dragon and potential involvement in Venkatesh’s next under Trivikram’s direction, might affect her availability.
As anticipation builds, all eyes are now on the casting decision for Spirit. Will the team listen to the fans and bring Mrunal Thakur on board, or will a new name enter the race?
