The spate of suicides being committed by farmers in different parts of Telangana has not moved the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government at all. In fact, these suicides can be considered as murders committed by the government. This was the opinion expressed by Telangana Telugu Desam Party, which has been taking every advantage of the situation for its own political benefits.
The TDP leaders on Tuesday announced an ex gratia of Rs 50,000 to each of the families of suicide victims and demanded that the government pay an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh to each family. Expressing solidarity with distressed farmers and kin of those committed suicide, TDP floor leader in Assembly Errabelli Dayakar Rao said 545 farmers had committed suicides in Telangana so far.
Alleging that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was not evincing interest to solve the power crisis and standing crops were withering due to the CM’s criminal negligence, Dayakar Rao described suicides of distressed farmers as murders by the TRS government.
