A film has turned to be pretty average and still it could collect crores. Take the case of DJ Duvvada Jagannadham, Geetha Govindam or the recently released Maharshi. But such things won’t happen for other films, even if they followed same post-release publicity plans.
Recently we have seen how Maharshi movie got an average talk on day one, and then the team pulled off a mega stunt. Including Mahesh Babu, other big cast like Pooja Hegde and Allari Naresh joined Dil Raju and Vamsi Paidipally in giving a lot of promotional interviews, holding success meets and promoting the film extensively on day to day basis. That worked big time for them.
But then, when the team of Allu Sirish’s ABCD or earlier Sai Dharam’s Chitralahari tried to do the same, they didn’t get good results. While Chitralahari’s acts worked a bit, ABCD’s acts failed massively as the film is witnessing major drop in collections on first Monday.
Simply put, when big stars like Allu Arjun, Mahesh Babu promote an average film excessively, there will be more footfalls. And if upcoming stars like Allu Sirish do, there will not be of much use. They have to depend only on content. Also that explains what ‘stardom’ actually means.
