First Double century in World cup history

West indies cricketer Chris Gayle creates history in World Cup. Putting behind poor form and incessant criticism of experts, Chris Gayle finally made his bat talk. Gayles battered the Zimbabwe bowlers and his critics alike. 
Gayle scored double century in the match against Zimbabwe. He scores 215 runs to help the West Indies hit 372-2 in their World Cup Pool B clash against Zimbabwe. Gayle’s scored of 215 off just 147 balls.The masterblaster opener slugged 16 sixes as well as 10 fours in the 147-ball innings.
He is the first cricketer to hit double century in WC history. With this Gayle recorded the highest score in World Cup innings by reaching 189 runs. He walked into record books hitting the fastest double century in ODIs, beating Virender Sehwag’s knock off 140 balls. 
Highlights of Gayle double ton: 
* He is the first cricketer to score a double century in the World Cup. He has beaten Gary Kirsten’s highest score of 188 in the World Cup.
*He became the only fourth cricketer to score a double ton in ODIs. Only Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma (twice) scored double centuries so far. 
* Gayles knock of unbeaten 215 had more sixers than fours. He scored 16 sixers and 9 fours.
