First Round: Microsoft To Lay Off 700 Employees

As informed earlier in July about employee layoff, global Technology giant Microsoft is getting ready to remove the first round of staff.

Microsoft, in the past, announced it would cut down around 2850 jobs worldwide as part of restructuring company after completely acquiring Nokia and LinkedIn.

In a follow up to it, the company is likely to lay off 700 employees in coming week, as it’s set to report the December quarter earnings on 26th January. As per Thomson Reuters report, the globally popular and top company is expected to report almost $25.27 billion revenue.

Soon after acquiring Nokia in 2013, Satya Nadella-led company had to release close to 25,000 hardware employees. So, putting off 700 employees could have been a well-planned activity and may create no big void for company.

According to Microsoft, the company had an employee count of 1,13,600 worldwide and out of which, 44% are into engineering and 43% are in sales & marketing.
