A newspaper report on Sunday states IIT Delhi director Raghunath K Shevgaonkar resigned following pressure from Human Resource and Development Ministry to implement its 2 demands. i) Providing IIT Ground for a cricket academy Sachin Tendulkar wishes to open soon. ii) Payment of nearly Rs 70 lakhs to former faculty and BJP leader Subrahmanian Swamy as his salary between 1972 and 1991.
A furious Sachin Tendulkar claimed he is appalled to read the stories that suggest some land has been asked from IIT-D for academy in his name. ‘I have not even planned any academy neither do I want any piece of land for any purpose,’ he clarified.
Taking a dig at the Newspaper, Sachin went on to say it would have been good if basic facts are checked from him before publishing such fiction using his name While HRD Ministry confirms it hasn’t received any such communication from IIT Delhi Director, Subrahmanian Swamy has already sent legal notices to the daily.
