It’s a rare and thrilling occasion for Telugu cinema fans to witness all major stars under one roof. Events of such scale were once limited to the prestigious Nandi Awards during the era of united Andhra Pradesh or landmark celebrations like Megastar Chiranjeevi’s 60th birthday, where stars like Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun, Ram Charan, and Jr. NTR stole the spotlight.
After a 14-year hiatus, the Telangana State Government, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has revived the tradition with the launch of the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards 2024. This move is seen as a major step in acknowledging and honoring the 24 crafts of Telugu cinema.
The much-anticipated awards ceremony will be held on June 14 at HITEX, Madhapur, and is expected to witness an impressive turnout of top Tollywood celebrities. Unlike commercial award shows like Filmfare or SIIMA, which often see limited participation from Telugu stars, the Gaddar Awards are positioned as an official State recognition, thereby encouraging broader industry participation.
Prominent stars such as Icon Star Allu Arjun, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Vijay Deverakonda, SJ Suryah, Dulquer Salmaan, and Vennela Kishore are expected to attend. Esteemed director Nag Ashwin and popular singers Sid Sriram and Shreya Ghoshal will also grace the occasion, making it a grand celebration of Telugu cinema.
Inspired by this initiative, there are reports suggesting that the Andhra Pradesh government is also planning to bring back the Nandi Awards in an equally grand fashion, although an official confirmation is still awaited.
With excitement building among fans and industry insiders alike, the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards are poised to become a landmark event in the Telugu film calendar.
