In a significant boost to travel and cultural exchange, the Republic of Georgia has relaxed its visa policy for Indian citizens. As per recent reports, Indian passport holders who possess valid visas or residence permits from the United States, United Kingdom, Schengen Area, or Japan are now eligible for visa-free entry into Georgia.

This strategic move is expected to simplify access for a growing segment of Indian travellers seeking scenic, affordable international destinations without the burden of extensive visa procedures. Tourism officials in Georgia emphasized that the policy is designed to make the country more accessible to one of the world’s fastest-expanding tourism markets.

Visa-Free Entry for Eligible Indian Passport Holders
Indian nationals who hold valid visas or residence permits from the aforementioned countries can now bypass the requirement of obtaining a separate Georgian visa. For those who do not meet these criteria, Georgia has also streamlined its visa application process, introducing a simplified checklist to improve efficiency and transparency.

Revised Visa Application Requirements Include:
A passport-sized photograph

Scanned copy of the passport’s bio page

Aadhaar-linked contact details and a copy of the Aadhaar card

PAN card

Financial documentation (six-month bank statement and three years’ income tax returns)

Proof of employment (salary slips, employee ID, or an official job offer letter)

These measures aim to reduce processing times and eliminate unnecessary hurdles for genuine travellers.

Use Official Channels for Applications
The Georgian government strongly advises Indian travellers to use only official portals for visa applications and travel information. This is intended to prevent fraud and discourage the use of unauthorized intermediaries. Travellers are encouraged to plan early and ensure all documentation is in order to avoid delays.

Positioning Georgia as a Key Destination for Indian Tourists
Travel industry experts view this policy change as a timely and strategic initiative. With its rich cultural heritage, dramatic mountain scenery, historic churches, renowned wine regions, and vibrant capital city Tbilisi, Georgia is poised to become a major gateway to the Caucasus for Indian tourists.

By reducing entry barriers and enhancing transparency, Georgia is not only opening its doors wider to Indian travellers but also fostering deeper ties through tourism, culture, and economic exchange.
