In recent days, there has been an intensifying debate regarding the potential elevation of Nara Lokesh, the future leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), to the position of Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. This narrative has gained significant traction, with several political leaders beginning to openly support the idea.
A notable development in this discourse came from Pithapuram’s former MLA, SVSN Varma, who played a key role in Pawan Kalyan’s victory in the constituency. In a recent media interaction, Varma reinforced the growing sentiment, emphasizing that there is nothing wrong with TDP supporters advocating for Lokesh’s promotion as Deputy CM. Drawing a parallel to a recent event, Varma pointed out, “When Jagan visited Pithapuram a month after his defeat in the elections during the floods, his supporters were vocally pushing for him to be CM. That was an expression of the admiration his supporters had for him. Similarly, TDP cadres have every right to express their aspirations, and it’s perfectly reasonable for them to want Lokesh in the role of Deputy CM. He truly deserves it.”
Varma also acknowledged that there is a competing narrative among Jana Sena Party (JSP) supporters, who hope to see Pawan Kalyan as the Chief Minister. His balanced and reasoned argument offered a clear reflection of the sentiments within the TDP ranks, highlighting the growing momentum behind Lokesh’s leadership role.
This comes on the heels of similar statements by senior TDP leaders like Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy and Raghu Rama Krishna Raju, who have also lent their support to the idea of Lokesh becoming the Deputy CM, further solidifying the narrative.
