Hari Hara Veera Mallu has opened to mixed reactions. While some audiences were left disappointed, others termed it just an average watch. But one common complaint echoed by most viewers is the substandard CGI, particularly in the film’s second half.
So how did such underwhelming visuals make it into the final cut?
According to insider sources, several CG shots weren’t completed within the planned timeline. As the deadline to dispatch overseas prints approached, the makers were left with no option but to send the unfinished version. The initial plan was to update the Indian prints with improved CGI, but that too couldn’t be executed in time for the premiere screenings. As a result, both international and domestic audiences ended up watching the same incomplete version.
This misstep significantly hurt the film’s reception.
However, the team is now in damage-control mode. Reports suggest that they’re removing poorly received scenes — especially the much-talked-about horse-riding sequence — and refining several visual portions in the second half. The goal is to enhance the overall experience and salvage the film’s reputation.
The revised version is expected to be rolled out by Friday during select showtimes, with the team hopeful that better word-of-mouth will bring audiences back to the theaters.
