Harish Shankar Apologises After ‘Thadasthu’ Tweet Sparks Fan War

Harish Shankar recently found himself in the middle of a social media controversy after a comment he made on X sparked backlash among fans. The director, who is currently busy with the release of Ustaad Bhagat Singh, quickly realized his mistake and issued a public apology to control the situation.

The issue began when one of his followers suggested that the upcoming film starring Pawan Kalyan should surpass the box office records of Mahesh Babu. In response, Harish Shankar casually replied “Thadasthu” (meaning “so be it” or “consider it done”). The reply immediately triggered strong reactions from Mahesh Babu’s fanbase on social media, who felt the comment was unnecessary.

Realizing the situation escalating quickly, Harish Shankar deleted the reply within minutes. However, screenshots of the post had already spread across social media platforms, leading to widespread criticism and heated debates among fan groups.

Soon after, the director took to his X account again and posted a detailed note clarifying the situation. He explained that he had replied in haste while juggling several commitments related to the post-production work of Ustaad Bhagat Singh. According to him, he had only partially read the follower’s tweet and responded without any intention of disrespecting anyone.

Harish Shankar also emphasized that he has immense respect for Mahesh Babu and his achievements in the industry. He further expressed confidence that Mahesh Babu’s upcoming film Varanasi would break several box office records in the future.

Offering a sincere apology, the director requested fans of all actors to support Ustaad Bhagat Singh, which is scheduled for a grand theatrical release on March 19. While his clarification may not completely erase the controversy, it has helped calm the situation to some extent just days before the film’s release.

The incident once again highlights how even a small remark on social media can quickly escalate into a major controversy. For celebrities and filmmakers, it serves as a reminder that words shared online—even for a moment—can have lasting consequences.
