It was reported some time back that Ratnavel is the cinematographer of Mahesh’s upcoming film Brahmotsavam. The film is scheduled for release in summer of 2016 and the shooting is currently on. However, while having a top cinematographer is good news for the team, Ratnavel himself had to make a tough decision to continue doing the film.
As a rule, Ratnavel only accepts one film at a time, though many top cinematographers manage clash of dates by using assistants. But Ratnavel insists on being there for each and every scene and because of this commitment, he had to let go a rather prestigious project. Shankar had offered him Robo 2 which stars Rajinikanth, but Ratnavel had to turn down the offer due to Brahmotsavam.
Surely, a tough decision and a mark of professionalism of Ratnavel, which makes him one of the top cinematographers in the country right now.
