Years back, well to be more precise, 20 years back, Ram Gopal Varma became an overnight sensation with Shiva.
He was hailed as the most promising technician to have happened to Telugu industry and many feel that he has changed the way Telugu films were made.
Later, he moved to Bollywood after the Govinda Govinda controversy and since then his career went on a down slide.
Well, leaving the reasons apart, latest news about him is that Varma is now busy trying to get his once upon a time pet project ‘Veerappan’ going. Though Varma even met up with Veerappan’s wife Muthulakshmi and gathered many unknown facts about the sandalwood smuggler, the project was eventually shelved.
At the time, the Tamil Nadu and Karnataka police even contemplated filing cases against him for meeting Muthulakshmi. Now, years later, Varma is said to be thinking of presenting Muthulakshmi to the people and media.
Thanks to the recent encounter deaths of Sandalwood smugglers in Andhra Pradesh, Varma is said to be keen on reviving the project.
Well, some snigger that Varma will not give up film-making till he gets a hit.
