While the AP CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu is hell-bent on making Amaravati a world-class capital and invite foreign companies to invest big, lack of an international airport is not only deterring Babu’s dreams but is also leaving the foreign industrialists in a state of fix.
Even though representatives of several foreign companies evinced interest in investing in setting up of industrial units and tourism and other business sectors in Amaravati during the international investment summit in Vizag, they are in doldrums as they have to reach Amaravati via Hyderabad due to lack of a direct flight.Already, industrialists from Japan and Singapore, who are investing big in Amaravati are pressurising the government facilitate direct fight services to Amaravati.
Meanwhile, Babu is relentlessly propagating various of his government’s subsidies, single desk policy and other incentives, apart from the infrastructure which are on offer for the foreign companies. On the other hand, the Gannavaram Airport is still awaiting the 600 acres for the expansion plans. The runway just be extended by 7,000 feet to enable landing and takeoffs of the international flights. Also, the government should press the centre fit getting the immigration and customs status for the airport.
