Andhra Pradesh is set to witness a significant industrial boost, as Hindalco Industries plans to establish a large-scale project in Kuppam, the home constituency of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. The company, a leading name in the aluminum sector, will invest nearly ₹586 crore to set up an Integrated Aluminum Extrusion Facility.
The aluminum components produced at this facility will serve as raw materials for manufacturing iPhone chassis and enclosures, effectively linking Kuppam to Apple’s global supply chain.
The project proposal is expected to soon receive approval from the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB). Officials describe this initiative as a milestone in Andhra Pradesh’s industrial journey, connecting the state directly to high-end smartphone manufacturing.
Kuppam’s strategic location adds to the project’s appeal—it is just 120 kilometers from Bengaluru and 200 kilometers from Chennai, enabling investors to leverage the infrastructure of both major metro cities. If all goes according to plan, the Hindalco facility is likely to be operational by 2027, creating around 1,000 direct jobs. The government will provide support under the AP Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy 2025-30, offering land and other incentives as part of its subsidy framework.
Hindalco’s entry positions Andhra Pradesh as a key player in the global smartphone supply chain and marks a significant step toward India’s “Make in India” vision, with critical iPhone components like chassis and PCBs being manufactured domestically.
