KRK Detained by Mumbai Police in Andheri Firing Case

Controversial self-styled film critic and actor Kamaal Rashid Khan, popularly known as KRK, was detained by Mumbai Police late on Friday night in connection with an alleged gun-firing incident that occurred on January 18 in Andheri’s Oshiwara area.
According to police officials and media reports, two rounds were fired from a licensed firearm at a residential building in Nalanda Society. The bullets were recovered from the second and fourth floors of the building, with the affected flats belonging to a writer-director and a model. Following a complaint filed by the residents, the Oshiwara Police launched an investigation into the incident.
A forensic examination revealed that the bullets were fired from KRK’s bungalow located near the society. Based on this evidence, the police detained Khan for questioning. During the interrogation, he reportedly admitted to firing shots from his licensed pistol, claiming that he was merely checking the weapon’s functionality while cleaning it and had aimed toward a nearby mangrove area. He further stated that strong winds may have caused the bullets to travel toward the residential building.
Police have seized the firearm and are currently verifying Khan’s claims as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities have also stated that further legal action will depend on the outcome of ballistic and forensic reports.
KRK is no stranger to legal controversies. Over the years, multiple cases have been registered against him for provocative and allegedly defamatory remarks made against actors and politicians on social media. In 2022, he was arrested for making disparaging comments about late Bollywood actors Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan Khan.
He has also frequently drawn criticism for his remarks targeting actors from the Telugu and Tamil film industries, with many of his statements being labelled offensive and racist. These comments have repeatedly sparked backlash from South Indian film fans and social media users.
