A 27-year-old Indian student from Hyderabad, Chandrashekar Pole, was tragically shot dead in Dallas, Texas, while working at a gas station on Saturday night. The unidentified gunman fled the scene, and local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
Chandrashekar had moved to the United States in 2023 after completing his Bachelor’s in Dental Surgery in Hyderabad. He recently finished his Master’s degree and was actively seeking full-time employment. In the meantime, he worked part-time at the gas station to support himself financially.
The shocking news has left his family in Hyderabad devastated. They have appealed to both the Indian and Telangana governments to facilitate the repatriation of his mortal remains at the earliest.
BRS MLA Sudhir Reddy and former minister T. Harish Rao visited Chandrashekar’s family to offer condolences. Describing the incident as “deeply tragic,” Harish Rao urged the government to take immediate action. “The pain of the parents, who once dreamed of seeing their son achieve great heights, is beyond words,” Rao said in an online statement. “On behalf of BRS, we request the government to ensure that Chandrashekar’s mortal remains are brought home without delay, and measures are taken to protect Indian students abroad.”
