Asha Bhosle passes away at 92 in Mumbai
Asha Bhosle, one of India’s most iconic and influential playback singers, passed away at the age of 92 in Mumbai on Sunday. She had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital a day earlier due to extreme exhaustion and a chest infection.
The news was officially confirmed by Ashish Shelar outside the hospital. Her last rites are scheduled to take place at Shivaji Park on Monday at 4:00 PM.
Earlier, her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle had shared an update on social media, requesting privacy for the family during this difficult time. She mentioned that Asha Bhosle was undergoing treatment and expressed hope for recovery.
Asha Bhosle’s musical journey began at a very young age, with her first playback song in the 1943 Marathi film Majha Bal. Over the decades, she built an extraordinary legacy, lending her voice to countless evergreen hits like “Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko,” “Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani,” “O Haseena Zulfonwale Jane Jahan,” and “Ye Ladka Hay Allah Kaisa Hai Diwana.”
