The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), India’s premier management institute, is set to establish its first international campus in Dubai, marking a significant milestone in its global expansion strategy. This development follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), underscoring the deepening educational and economic ties between India and the UAE.

The IIMA Dubai Campus will be developed in two strategic phases. In the initial phase, the institute will operate out of the Dubai International Academic City (DIAC), a premier hub for higher education in the region. The second phase will witness the establishment of a state-of-the-art permanent campus, projected to be fully operational by 2029.

Pankaj Patel, Chairperson of the IIMA Board of Governors, remarked, “We are extremely happy to start our full-fledged campus in Dubai with the support of the Government of Dubai this year. Over the next decade, we envision this to be a thriving centre where young leaders of tomorrow will hone their skills, innovate, and become pathfinders. As we create new learning experiences globally, we remain committed to transformative learning, leadership, and creating enduring impact in the community.”

Highlighting Dubai’s role as a strategic location, Professor Bharat Bhasker, Director, IIMA, stated, “Dubai is a thriving global epicentre for innovation, investment, and entrepreneurship. Our objective is to provide high-quality management education to aspiring leaders in the Middle East and surrounding regions. This collaboration not only enhances IIMA’s global presence but also fosters meaningful cross-cultural exchange, preparing our graduates for success in a globalised world.”

The Dubai campus will be inaugurated with IIMA’s flagship full-time One-year MBA programme, designed specifically for working professionals and entrepreneurs. The programme will deliver advanced management education, global business perspectives, and leadership readiness, aligning seamlessly with the UAE’s economic vision and innovation goals.

Admissions for the programme will follow a rigorous two-stage process, requiring valid GMAT or GRE scores from the past five years. The inaugural batch is slated to commence in September 2025.

Hadi Badri, CEO of Dubai Economic Development Corporation (DEDC), welcomed the collaboration, stating, “The launch of IIMA’s Dubai Campus further enhances the city’s reputation as a global hub for talent, innovation, and entrepreneurship. This partnership reflects the strong economic and social ties between Dubai and India, and we look forward to supporting IIMA in becoming an integral part of Dubai’s academic and business landscape.”

With this strategic move, IIMA reaffirms its commitment to delivering world-class management education while fostering global leadership and innovation through international engagement.
