Renowned composer Ilaiyaraaja, known for his reclusive nature when it comes to film promotions, made a rare public appearance in Hyderabad for the teaser launch of his upcoming Telugu film Shashtipurthi. His presence at the event marked a significant moment, as he stepped out to extend his support and encouragement to the young talent associated with the project.
Speaking at the event, Ilaiyaraaja shared his heartfelt motivation for attending: “The team that worked on this film is young and extremely talented. You have been enjoying my music for many years, and you will continue to do so in the future as well, including this film.” His words resonated with the audience, further amplifying the excitement surrounding the project.
Adding to the grandeur of the evening, Oscar-winning composer M.M. Keeravani also graced the event. He penned the lyrics for the song Edo Ededo from the film’s soundtrack and expressed his admiration for Ilaiyaraaja, noting that the song reflects the core essence of the film and is a tribute to the legendary composer himself.
Veteran actor Rajendra Prasad, who plays a pivotal role in Shashtipurthi, shared his longstanding reverence for Ilaiyaraaja, fondly referring to him as “Swami.” He expressed his delight at collaborating with the maestro once again after many years.
Shashtipurthi features Rupeysh and Akanksha Singh in the lead roles, with Rajendra Prasad and Archana—of the iconic Ladies Tailor fame—playing other key characters. The film is helmed by director Pavan Prabha and produced by Rupesh Kumar Chowdary under the banner of MAA AAI Productions.
The release date for Shashtipurthi will be announced soon.
