Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s Eid blockbuster Bajarangi Bhaijaan is now India’s second highest grosser, only next to PK. However, it’s the film’s moving human story that has touched every movie lover. Bajarangi Bhaijaan showcases an emotional tale of a little, mute Pakistan girl who lost her way and enters India. Salman then takes up the challenge of taking the girl back to her homeland.
In a tragic irony, a 23 year old deaf Indian girl named Geeta, who mistakenly entered Lahore, Pakistan 14 years ago, has been looking for help to reach to her roots in India. Geeta, aka Guddy, is only pointing at Telangana and Jharkhand on the Indian map. Also, Geeta makes signs that she had seven brothers and four sisters and scribbles 193 on paper, which could be her house number in India.
Geeta is now sheltered in Karachi and her case has been in news for the last few years and her plight came into prominence more after Bajarangi Bhaijaan, and social activists and even a Pakistani Minister are determined to send Geeta to her homeland. The matter has now reached the Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and she instructed the Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan to meet her and take necessary steps to bring her back home.
