In an unfortunate trend, we are hearing sad incidents of Indians becoming victims of random assaults and breathing their last. The trend is not restricted to just one nation, and the list is going on increasing. A couple of days back, we heard that a Hyderabad woman was stabbed by a Brazilian man in London.
While we are unable to digest the incident that happened in London, another case was reported. In a spine-chilling attack, a few students of the famous Nottingham University including an Indian-origin were stabbed to death. The victims’ families are crying their hearts out.
Grace O’Malley-Kumar, an Indian of Irish descent is also among the victims who were stabbed to death in Nottingham. She is a medical student pursuing her studies at the University of Nottingham. She is also an athlete and she is into hockey and played at underage level.
The teenager comes from a respectable family and the members are doctors. Not just her father’s side, her mother’s side is also into the medical profession and there are doctors from both families.
The teenager is just 19 years old. Her friends are shocked that Grace O’Malley-Kumar is no more. Remembering her, they said that she is a happy-going person who enjoys her studies and athlete space.
The shocking incident happened when an attacker was on a rampage in Nottingham. When the suspect stole a car and stabbed three people with a knife. The three victims are identified as Grace O’Malley-Kumar, Barnaby Webber, both 19, and Ian Coates(65). The issue caused a big outrage locally.
What’s even more shocking is that the suspect is said to be a former student of the University of Nottingham. In a release, the University said that what happened is devastating and the cops said that the former student is the suspect in the case. We are currently focused on supporting the families of the victims.
On the other hand, the cricket fraternity will be honoring the Nottingham victims. Cricketers. As the Ashes series will start today, players of both teams will wear black armbands on Friday as a bid to honor the victims.
